Untangling #Xmas lights is the single most tedious exercise humanity has ever invented. Especially if you had more than just one set on your tree.

Warning: The Grammar Police are in full force. Writers who neglect their punctuation could get long sentences!
"The Netheads were right: technological self-determination is at odds with the natural imperatives of tech businesses. They make more money when they take away our freedom – our freedom to speak, to leave, to connect."

It just blows my mind how much of life is living on a trapdoor other people deliberately build beneath you so they can drop you when it makes them some more money they don't even need. I get it if a business is sinking and needs to let people go to stay afloat. But when they have record profits? Even though I expect nothing more it still astonishes me sometimes
What do #homeopathy, #3D TV sets, #CryptoCurrencies, and #Metaverse have in common?
They're all bullshit.
I've been on #Mastodon for a couple of weeks now but still haven't figured out one thing:
Is there a way not to have on the federated timeline the people that you follow and whose toots appear on you home timeline? It's quite annoying seeing the same toots repeating on the two timelines.
If you see this but don't know the answer, please #boost to get it to someone who knows😁.
https://t.me/United24media/3555 ⚡️🇵🇱 Polish Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau criticized Ramstein for the lack of a decision regarding tanks for Ukraine. “Supplying weapons to Ukraine so that it can repel Russian aggression is not some kind of decision-making exercise. Ukrainian blood is shed for real. Here is the price of fluctuations with the delivery of Leopards. We need to act, and immediately,” Rau said. #Ukraine #News #War #Russia #NoTanksJustFiltrationSaysGermany
I'm older so I remember things. Everything you see happening today should be understood this way:
The top tax rate used to be 90% in order to prevent the really rich from destroying democracy.
The corporate tax rate was 50% because corporations exist to serve society.
AND the inheritance tax was really high to keep family dynasties from gaining power over us.
I talked to one of the few local lawmakers who voted against a TikTok ban - a city councilwoman in Rapid City, S.D., who said the debate was a distraction from actual city issues, like housing and crime, and worried about "media McCarthyism," given the unsubstantiated claims of Communist conspiracy:
"The need for evidence has been drilled into my head my whole life,” she said. “Those who don’t study history are bound to repeat it."

It seems, Elon is far from being a genius. Just an ordinary corporate bullshit scum.

I've been listening to some Slovak #PunkMusic from almost 30 years ago lately and it scares me to see how relevant (#environment, #consumerism, #GovernmentSurveillance, #HumanRights, #PoliceBrutality, #CorporateBullshit, #propaganda, #SocialProblems) it's even today. And some of this stuff has got even worse since then. I guess we should have paid more attention to these guys when there was time.
Most Internet users are totally oblivious to the fact that a case before the U.S. Supreme Court right now, other cases to come, and an array of politically-inspired regulatory efforts, stand a good chance of decimating UGC (User Generated Content) on the Web. This will be true even if the current Supreme Court case doesn't end badly.
Politicians and governments around the world, including in the U.S., are rushing to turn the Internet into a politically controlled, uber-censored version of China's Internet, complete with forcing everyone to be fully identified with government ID for access to most sites (using "protecting children" as the talking point).
It's coming boys and girls, and what's even scarier is that Big Tech like Google seems to not fully understand what's at risk and how best to push back. Timid approaches won't suffice -- this is a war, with governments pushing to turn the Internet into a tool for total control of their populations.
